The idea of generating electricity directly from sunlight is a relatively new concept to most. Since the solar industry is so new, many do not know the termonoly used in the industry. Research some of the most common terms below.

Net metering allows homeowners who produce more electricity then they consume to sell the excess electricity.

Alternating Current (AC)

The flow of electricity that consistently changes direction. This is the form electricity is most commonly found on an electricity grid.

Direct Current (DC)

The flow of electricity in one direction. Most electricity on the grid is alternating current, so an inverter is required to convert direct current into alternating current.
